chalk
For the chalk we practiced using gradients and different methods to convey values with chalk, we also had to draw something from the still life that was set up for another class. I chose to do the flowers because I thought they were pretty, but I didn't get to finish them since we had a tornado warning that day and they ended school early. It was really fun to use chalk (even if it did get everywhere), and it was easy to convey values using chalk.
oil pastels
Before we really got into learning how to use pastels our teacher allowed us to play with them for a little bit so we could get used to them (I drew the tree!). After awhile she gave us some cans of soda and bottles of Gatorade and had us draw those with oil pastels. I chose to do the blue bottle of Gatorade, I like how it turned out, even if it is a little bit lopsided. Using oil pastels is really fun because it's easy to layer and they just feel good to use in general.
