For this project we had to design a character based off of movies such as Kubo and the Two Strings, Coraline, or The Nightmare Before Christmas. My class actually had a field trip to go see Kubo and the Two Strings in theaters, but I wasn't able to go; so I based my character off of the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas because it was around October at the time and I really wanted to create a witch or something like that!
This was my first character, his name is Bagel and he roller-skates around and leaves toasters everywhere and scares the crap out of everyone. The main reason why I scrapped him was because I felt like he wouldn't really fit in with the theme of the movie/the art style, and I also really wanted to design a more detailed character. RIP Bagel, he will forever live on in our hearts.
After designing Bagel I realized that I really wanted to design a witch, so rando witch here was my first attempt at designing one, I really liked her design and I still really do, but I still felt like it didn't fit in with the movie's art style/general spooky scary vibe.
My friends and I actually joked about him being the class's mascot. I think we called him crack cat or something.
After using the magic of Pinterest, I finally found enough inspiration to create the kind of character that I felt would actually fit in with the movie's style/vibe. I named her Griselda because it was the most witchy name that I could think of at the moment. She established a postal service in Halloween Town using her thousands of crow familiars to deliver mail. She also recruits her familiars to watch over everyone in the town to make sure they're safe/not getting into anything too bad. However, when Jack introduced Christmas to everyone, she became absolutely swamped trying to help out, so she wasn't able to keep as close an eye on Oogie Boogie as usual, so she wasn't able to see or warn anyone of his plans.

I just... really really love Popplio. He's my favorite water type pokemon and I couldn't stop thinking about him so I just drew two pages full of Popplios.
I didn't really have much inspiration for stripes so this one just sort of came out of nowhere.
This one's kind of messy but I drew some spiders in a band or something I don't really know why I drew this but it happened.

(I'm super broke, my dude)
Also I just thought it'd be a cool and weird little trinket to make.
My first complaint is that the camera controls were really weird, and in order to be able to zoom in you need a standard USB or wireless mouse; because they don't have a keyboard shortcut for it. So if you're trying to use Tinkercad with only a laptop touchpad, that's rough buddy.
Another thing that was really weird about these tutorials were it's instructions. Sometimes they can get pretty vague; like in the key chain tutorial they tell you to select a bunch of stuff and delete it, but it doesn't tell you how to delete it (hint: it's the DEL key). I figured there would be an icon or something that you could click to get rid of your selection and I spent about 5 minutes looking for it before trying another method, that's more my fault than theirs but further instruction would have been nice.
(TLDR; The camera controls were kinda wonky and some of the instructions for the tutorial instructions can be a bit vague. The website's still going though development so it has an excuse for this.)
This is my IF for "rain". This was based off of a dream I had where I was in this weird house and the roof was constantly leaking, there were bowls and glasses everywhere filled with leaky ceiling water.
In this IF, I just compiled a bunch of my favorite images from my screensavers folder in Gimp. After doing this I realized that I really wanted to draw two lobsters in a knife fight, but I was exhausted to do anything else.
(But I'm so planning on doing it in the near future. It's definitely happening.)
I'm really sorry for not posting these sooner, I caught pneumonia a few weeks ago and it's been really hard trying to catch up in all of my subjects!
I've mostly been using the illustration fridays as a way to play with the brushes in SAI. I accidentally over airbrushed some of these things (coughcoughtheiceonecough) but they still look pretty neat in my opinion.
a waffle roof, a fancy cafe cake house, a hobbit door, mushroom stairs and a well/pool/or pond filled with flower tea (you can't really see the flowers anymore but I think it still looks pretty neat!).
These are from the last few Illustration Fridays, the themes were tarot, traffic, and orange.
I haven't finished the traffic one yet, so have these. (Click to enlarge!)
this semester was an emotional roller coaster for me tbh
